Sometimes our plans don’t work out.

My name is Christina Rosario. I was saved at the age of seven, grew up in a Christian home, and attended a Christian school for all of my education years. I was fortunate enough to know back in high school that God was calling me to be a teacher. After graduation, I attended Pensacola Christian College and earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary education in 2003. My teaching career didn’t start right out of college like I thought it would. Instead, God allowed me the opportunity to serve as the Extended School Day supervisor at Pensacola Christian Academy. It was during those years that I realized I enjoyed serving in leadership and serving both the teachers and college students who worked with me. I also found out that I rather enjoy paperwork. Although I met my husband during college, we didn’t get married until 2006. To plan for my wedding, I had moved back home to Indiana and had the opportunity to teach junior-high science and history. It was then that I realized I loved teaching junior-high! After getting married, my husband and I moved to Florida where his family was at the time. I thought I had my life all planned out. My plan was that after having children, I would teach elementary in whatever Christian school my husband and I chose to send our children. That is what was planned…but children are expensive! We couldn’t afford to send our children to a daycare while we both worked. To make ends meet, I began working for the daycare my children attended. I met some amazing people at that daycare. I didn’t realize until later how much God was using the daycare to mold me into what He wanted me to be. To make a long story short, God decided to use some seemingly negative circumstances to move me into teaching at the Indiana Christian school where I currently teach junior-high.

A couple of years ago, I felt as if God was calling me to further my education. This led me to enroll in the M.S. Educational Leadership program at Bob Jones University (BJU). I am currently on track to earn my master’s degree in December 2024. I feel as if God is using BJU to prepare me to be a better help to my students and colleagues. In addition to teaching junior-high English Language Arts (ELA) this year, I have also taken on the new role of instructional coaching. Not only is this a new position for me, but it is also a new position for our school. My main goal for the future is to allow God to use me to better serve my students and my coworkers through teaching and being an instructional coach. I desire to allow God to continue to mold me into someone He can use. When I think back to the plans that I had for myself and where I am today, I can definitely see God’s hand on my life. I am in such awe that He would choose to use me. I am imperfect and flawed, and the best that I can do is to keep my eyes on Him and rely on Him to use me as He sees fit. I don’t really know how God will use me in the future, but I do know I am right where He wants me to be right now. It is here that I will do my best to serve Him and those around me. Sometimes our plans don’t always work out, but I have found that His plans are always the best!
